Beginner’s Guide to AirPods Pro

In typical Apple fashion, they introduced a “Pro” version of the AirPods. In 2019, Apple released the AirPods Pro.

The AirPods Pro comes with significant upgrades and additional features to the classic AirPods.

With a different design that still retains the original style, the AirPods Pro have quickly become a favorite amongst Apple users.

Keep reading for our beginner’s guide on the AirPods Pro. It will cover everything you need to know about your AirPods Pro!

AirPods Pro Unboxing

Just got your AirPods Pro? The first step is to unbox it!

Inside the AirPods Pro retail box, there should be the following things:

  • AirPods Pro (inside the charging case)
  • AirPods Pro charging case
  • Three pairs of silicone ear tips (one pair already on the AirPods Pro)
  • A Lightning to USB cable
  • Instructions and warranty manuals

If you previously owned the original AirPods, you’ll notice that the AirPods Pro are smaller, have a bigger case, and have silicone ear tips.

There's nothing more satisfying than unboxing a new tech product!

Some key features added to the AirPods Pro include IPX4-approved water resistance, noise cancellation mode, ear tips (different sizes for fit adjustment), and a new force sensor. The physical features of the AirPods Pro will be discussed later in this guide.

Now that you've unboxed everything, let's get started!

Setting up your AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro, like its predecessor, comes with the H1 chip. That means that you can set up the AirPods Pro just by holding it close to your iPhone or iPad and opening the charging case's lid.

Again, your AirPods Pro are now connected with all devices linked to your Apple ID. Just like the original AirPods.

Interchanging between devices with your AirPods pro will be seamless. You'll never miss a beat of your favorite podcast, audiobook, or song!

AirPods Pro Audio Controls

Apple introduced a new force sensor with the AirPods Pro. With the AirPods before, the Double-Tap feature limited your wireless control options. With the AirPods Pro, you don’t have to worry about limitations anymore!

The force sensor gives you more control over your AirPods Pro. The force sensor is pressure-sensitive. So just pressing it will trigger the AirPods Pro's controls.

You can also use the force sensor to switch between the AirPods pro’s transparency and active noise-canceling modes.

Charging your AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro comes with a charging case.

A full charge of the AirPods Pro offers 4.5 hours of listening time or about 3.5 hours of talking time. A fully charged charging case stores about 24 hours of listening time or 18 hours of talking time.

Make sure you know how to charge your AirPods Pro to maximize your listening time.

The AirPods Pro also have a convenient quick-charge feature—charging the AirPods Pro for 5 minutes will give it an hour of listening time.

If your charging case is regularly charged or always restore your AirPods in the case, you should always have some battery for your AirPods Pro.

Apple also offers convenient ways to check the battery levels of your AirPods Pro and charging case.

Physical Features

A great addition to the AirPods Pro is its IPX4 water resistance.

This means you don’t have to worry about sweat or light rain. So if you’re out jogging or if it’s drizzling outside, the AirPods Pro will perform just fine.

Some people were concerned about the AirPods’ fit; they found the classic AirPods falling out sometimes. With the AirPods Pro’s silicone ear tips, you won’t have to worry about your wireless earbuds falling out.

Furthermore, Apple has implemented the Ear Tip Fit Test so you can find the best fit for your ears. This will improve comfort and sound quality.

Now that you know all the new, key features of the AirPods Pro, test out your AirPods’ force sensor and play your favorite song!
