How to Change AirPod Settings and Rename AirPods

Is something off with your AirPods and you want to change that? Or maybe you want to personalize your settings.

Well, no need to worry! The AirPods functions can be modified in several ways on the settings page to make it easier and quicker for you to use.

Keep reading to learn how to adjust the settings of your AirPods and later, find out how to change the name of your AirPods in a few easy steps!

How to Change and rename AirPod Settings:

Before we begin, make sure your AirPods are charged. If you’re unsure how to check your AirPods battery level, check out the tutorial for the quickest way to find it. 

To Change Your AirPods Settings:

  1. Go to Setting > “Bluetooth”. Here, you’ll find all your Bluetooth devices under “My Devices” including your AirPods.
  2. Tap the blue circled "i" to go to your AirPods’ settings.
  3. Here is where you make your adjustments. You can make several adjustments including:
  4. Changing the Name of Your AirPods: Tap the current name and you can edit it to any creative, personal name you want!
  5. Change Double-Tap Feature: Pick your Left or Right AirPod on the screen to play, pause, skip forward and backward and chat with Siri.
  6. Set Microphone Left, Right, or Auto: If you find yourself using one AirPod as a microphone more than the other, pick that option, and that AirPod will act as the default microphone. Setting this option to Automatic will allow either AirPod to be the mic, depending on which one is out the case.

To Change Your AirPods Settings on Mac:

  1. Open your Mac and click the Apple Logo > System Preferences > Bluetooth and there will be a “Devices” list.
  2. When connected to your Airpods, go to the Options button located to the right of your corresponding device.
  3. Adjust the settings accordingly.

Play around with the settings to find out and adjust the preferences to what fits best for you!

Additionally, accessories are meant to be personalized, and one way is to name them. Customize the name of your AirPods in just a few easy steps. 

To Rename AirPods:

  1. Open the lid of your AirPods case.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth. You should be able to see your AirPods under “My Devices.”
  3. Tap the circled "i" next to your AirPods’ current name. You’ll be taken to your AirPods’ settings page.
  4. To change the name, tap the current name at the top of the screen. Name your AirPods something creative and personal! When you’re satisfied, tap “Done.”
