By default, your Apple Watch Series 5 44 mm and other models are set to “Always On” to track, scan, and detect any updates about you or your environment.
Unlike your iPhone, Apple Watches do not need to be restarted nor powered off to refresh the device.
If you simply want to unpair or reset your Apple Watch Series 5, we have a separate tutorial for those features.
Follow the guide below to power off your Apple Watch Series 5 instantly.
To Power Off Your Apple Watch 5:
- Make sure your Apple Watch is not charging by removing it from the charger. We can’t restart the Apple Watch when it is charging.
- Locate the Side Button. Press and hold the Side Button until you see the “Power Off” option.
- Once you see the “Power Off” slider at the top of the Apple Watch face, slide to the right to turn off your Apple Watch - the screen will turn black.
If your Apple Watch is updating, let your Apple Watch finish updating first before you Power Off your Apple Watch.
