Apple Extends Independent Repair Program To Macs After US Antitrust Investigation

First announced in Fall 2020, Apple's Independent Repair Program provides training, parts, and all necessary resources for repair shops to fix Apple products.

Independent Repair Shops participating in Apple's program only had access to restore iPhones. Now, Apple expanded the repair program to give independent repair shops the tools and resources to fix Mac devices.

The announcement of extending Apple's Independent Repair Program is timely as Apple was under investigation by the U.S. House Antitrust Subcommittee.

One of the topics discussed during the hearing last month was about Apple's "right to repair" its devices for its customers.

By announcing the expansion of the independent repair program to Macs, Apple temporarily diverts the antitrust investigation away from itself.
