Apple announces its free online coding courses for teachers and students Thursday morning.
In addition to all the other news about Apple's highly anticipated devices and projects for the next year, the big tech company picks the perfect time to release the coding program.
While most people, such as teachers and students, work from home since the initial COVID-19 outbreak, everyone has an opportunity to improve a skill or two for the long run.
About Apple's Coding Programs
Apple is offering coding guides for students and teachers of the "Develop in Swift Explorations Xcode 11," "Develop in Swift AP CS Principles Xcode 11," and "Everyone Can Code Adventures."
Each guide has a student and teacher version and is offered for free to access in Apple Books.
The curriculums for the "Develop in Swift" and "Everyone Can Code" are designed for teachers and high school and higher education students.
"Everyone Can Code," originally launched in 2016, is taught to students from grades 4 to 8 to introduce them to coding through puzzles and games.
"Everyone Can Code Puzzles" follows after "Everyone Can Code" for students to learn the advanced skills to build with the Swift code program.
Teaching the younger students about coding will establish a basic understanding of coding and give them a jumpstart to excelling in the future.
Apple did not forget about parents learning with their kids with the "A Quick Start to Code" guide for students ages 10 and up on the iPad or Mac.
Why Do People Care About Coding?
In a world that is continuously developing and growing into a more digital society, learning how to code could become as essential as learning a second language.
A teacher of mobile app design and development at McHenry County College in Illinois, Bill Skrzypczak shared that Apple's curricula will help students of all ages to "develop the technical and soft skills employers are looking for."
