Apple Maps gets a new look from the iOS14 beta update. Instead of drawing photos and reviews from third-parties, Apple Maps features "its own native rating system."
The Maps upgrades were first noticed by Twitter user BeauGiles.
The new Apple native rating system allows users to rate places with the classic thumbs up and thumbs down buttons. Anyone testing the iOS14 beta on their iPhones can also add photos to their reviews.
The addition of user-submitted photos adds more value to the review and makes the "Look Around" feature more useful to everyone searching for a new restaurant to try.
The shift to giving Apple users the option to submit their own reviews and photos "helps businesses get recognized and decreases Apple's reliance on third parties like Foursquare and Yelp."
Similar to browsing reviews on Google and Yelp, Apple Maps will join the big three to assist businesses in generating more exposure to the public—especially Apple users.
