Apple impressed us once again during its October 13, 2020, virtual launch event. Apple CEO Tim Cook invited us back to Apple Park a month after the September 2020 event to share this month's product releases.

From the all-new HomePod mini to the iPhone 12 series, Apple doesn't disappoint with the upgraded features to improve our overall user experiences in our home and on our mobile devices.

Let's take a look at the newest sound and communication device from Apple, the HomePod mini.

HomePod mini

If you love the HomePod, you will love the HomePod mini.

For the HomePod mini, Cook shares that Apple's priorities for this product are to give users an "easy-to-use" device to help us "work better together." Cook also reassures us that our information and privacy are "secure and protected."

The latest HomePod mini sports the same mesh fabric as its predecessor with color options of White and Space Gray. Shaped more circular and rounder than the HomePod, the HomePod mini will fit perfectly in any home without taking up too much space.

The key features to look forward to using include the following:

  • Amazing sound: Bass response and acoustics that gives you a 3D sound experience
  • Smart Home: Continue listening to your favorite songs and podcasts from any room in your home as long as you have a HomePod mini in there
  • S5 Chip: To support Apple's complex volume tuning with intuitive driver radiators
  • Siri: Siri can help you with more now that Siri can update you on information from your iPhone

You can pre-order the HomePod mini on November 6 and get ready for it to be shipped on November 16.

Catch up on the HomePod mini launch from the event in the video below:

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini

Apple introduces four new iPhone models for the iPhone 12 series. From the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini to the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, there is an option for every iPhone user to choose.

For all the iPhone 12s, you get 5G connectivity. This network support makes the iPhone 12s the first iPhone to get a 5G connection.

Other notable details about the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 are the new colors it gets. Along with the iPhone 12 mini, you can choose from Black, White, (PRODUCT) Red, light Green, or Navy blue for both versions.

All the iPhone 12s sports the Super Retina XDR display on all-screen OLED with almost twice as many pixels as the iPhone 11. With the impressive pixel resolution upgrade, iPhone 12 users get enhanced True Tone display with higher contrasts based on the 2 million to 1 contrast ratio.

Last but not least, both the iPhone 12 and 12 mini sports Apple's A14 Bionic chip. Previously seen in the new iPad Air 2020, the iPhone 12s are the only iPhones that sports the newest and greatest Bionic chip.

Get ready to pre-order the iPhone 12 online on October 16 and in-stores on October 23. The iPhone 12 mini is available to pre-order online on November 6 and in-stores on November 13.

iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max

Lastly, Apple releases the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models with a shiner finish than the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. Displayed with Apple's Ceramic Shield screen for stronger resistance to drops, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max gives you the power to create content on-the-go.

Unlike the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models have the triple-camera system with 12MP Ultra Wide, Wide, and Telephoto cameras. Combining Apple's ProRaw feature, iPhone 12 users can record, capture, and edit their creative content all on their iPhone.

The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are also the first iPhones to get the LiDAR scanner, previously seen on the iPad Pro. The LiDAR scanner improves accuracy and reduces the time to capture photos on the iPhone. You also can engage with Augmented Reality applications better with the LiDAR scanner.

The iPhone 12 Pro is available for pre-order online on October 16 and in-stores on October 23. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is available for pre-order online on November 6 and in-stores on November 13.
