Talk regarding the future of Apple Silicon hasn’t stopped after Apple introduced the world to their M1 chip earlier this month.

It’s an exciting time for not only Apple loyalists and fans but all tech enthusiasts. There is more potential for future developments after witnessing the M1’s tight integration and optimization with Apple’s macOS 11 Big Sur operating system—the sky's the limit.

One of the few complaints about the newly released MacBook Air 13-inch and MacBook Pro 13-inch was the devices' physical appearance that seemed similar to the previous generation.

In essence, the newly released M1 MacBook refreshes brought overhauled internals but no updates to the design.

For many, having a MacBook is less about the performance than the looks. After all, a MacBook Air with an i3 looks identical to one with an i5.

There’s something to be said about a good looking device, and generational design updates are much more noticeable. That’s not something that occurred with the M1 MacBooks that began shipping on November 17.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned in a report earlier today that there will be new MacBook models with Apple Silicon available in late 2021.

What’s more, Apple will be bringing a distinctly different design to these MacBooks.

No design leaks were announced, but Ming-Chi Kuo has previously speculated that Apple Silicon-powered 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros could arrive in the latter half of 2021.

Additionally, leaker @L0vetodream on Twitter responded to MacRumors, saying that the new MacBook designs wouldn’t just come to Apple Silicon Macs. This, of course, creates speculation that Apple will continue offering MacBooks bearing Intel processors.

Apple’s transition for its Macs from Intel over to its proprietary Apple Silicon won’t happen overnight. The company mentioned time and again that the process will take “about two years” to complete.

This likely means that the MacBooks to release next year with the latest Intel hardware could sport the same new look like the company’s new Apple Silicon MacBooks.
