Calling all Apple TV audiences!

Get ready for a binge-watching session with Apple TV+'s series, Servant which has just been renewed for a third season on the streaming service.

The announcement of the third season renewal follows the series second season which is set to premiere on January 15, 2021.

'Servant': An Apple TV+ Original

Servant was one of the first series on Apple TV+ and it has grown in popularity amongst Apple TV+ subscribers since its premiere in November 2019.

The series is a horror thriller produced by American filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan who is popular to making original films with contemporary supernatural plots and twist endings. Some of Shyamalan's well known films include Split (2016), Unbreakable (2000), The Sixth Sense (1999) and Signs (2002).

Shyamalan took to Twitter yesterday to announce his excitement for the renewal of Servant.

Servant follows the story of Dorothy and Sean, a TV reporter and world-class chef, respectively. Despite their professional triumphs, Dorothy and Sean are living in the aftermath of the tragedy, the death of their infant son. Dorothy refuses to believe accept the death of their son and believes he is alive in a reborn doll. Unwilling to shatter his wife's illusion, Sean plays along with Dorothy's fantasy and the two of them invite a nanny, Leanne into their home to care for their 'son'.

The series first season is 10 episodes long and each episode is 30 minutes in duration. The second season will add an additional 10 episodes also 30 minutes in duration early next year.

Critics Reviews of 'Servant'

Shyamalan's series has an impressive 83% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 7.6/10 score on IMDb.

A Rolling Stone TV reviews reads:

"The set-up phase is where Servant is at its strongest. Well before we find out what’s really going on — and then what’s really really going on — it’s clear that something is deeply wrong within the walls of their palatial brownstone, which has the kind of kitchen you’d see when Googling “real estate porn.” The twists in the early going are genuinely unnerving, at times startling — I about jumped off my couch and shouted “He did not just do that!” at one scene in the premiere. And the arrival of Rupert Grint as Dorothy’s smug, dilettante brother Julian adds the perfect black-comic flavour to the strange doings between the Turners and Leanne."

Overall reviews offer high praise of Servant in its horror genre category, performances of the actors, setting and ability to keep audiences intrigued and with the twisty plot line.
