Apple Wins $14.4B Tax Case Against European Commission

Apple and Ireland just won a $14.4B lawsuit against the European Commission.

Back in 2016, the European Commission argued that Ireland gave Apple illegal tax advantages. The original ruling forced Apple to pay $14.4B in back taxes.

However, the European General Court ruled on Wednesday that the European Commission did not provide sufficient evidence for their claim. There was insufficient proof that Ireland helped Apple minimize its taxes through illegal methods.

However, it is expected that the European Commission will appeal this case with the highest court in the European Union: the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The Irish government is happy with the result, but Apple has yet to comment on the latest verdict.
