Since the devices launched on November 17th, M1-equipped Macs have been blazing a trail for future Apple computers both in the benchmark and real-world performance departments.

Bringing unprecedented battery life to the MacBook, as well as desktop-level graphics that accelerate all tasks within macOS, it’s safe to say Apple Silicon is here to stay.

Even so, Apple’s new M1 Mac mini isn’t without its issues. Many programs are still incompatible with M1 Macs and macOS 11 Big Sur, causing workflow problems as people wait for software optimization.

One of the things that seem to have stability issues with M1 is Bluetooth.

Not-So-Mini Bluetooth Issues

Bluetooth connectivity problems certainly aren’t new to Apple products. With certain updates over the years, devices like Apple’s Macs and iPhones haven’t always played nice with the Bluetooth receivers running through Apple’s software.

The 2018 Mac mini hasn’t had the best Bluetooth range in many users’ cases, and peripheral connection to devices such as Apple’s Intel-based MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models have had innumerable complaints over the years.

These issues typically have nothing to do with the end-user and are usually addressed swiftly with minor system updates.

Many users have been reporting Bluetooth connectivity problems with Apple’s new M1-powered Mac mini.

Alongside its impressive display of graphics performance and memory, efficiency is impressively bad Bluetooth stability. This may or may not have something to do with the USB A port, which, if occupied, supposedly worsens the M1 Mac mini’s Bluetooth issue.

On Reddit, users like chew_bone, mpurt3000, and impatrickt have started threads regarding the problems they’ve found on their M1 Mac minis.

Amassing several responses, it’s clear that these are more than isolated issues, and many more could be experiencing the same problems.

Perhaps it's an issue with the Wi-Fi Bluetooth chip or the enclosure. Multiple solutions have been offered up, but nothing has stuck.

Looking forward, we hope to see Apple officially address this issue with a software update.
