Apple's latest subscription service, Apple Fitness+, is being released this coming Monday, December 14.
In light of Apple's senior fitness technologies launch, Jay Blahnik has been speaking to the press to explain how exactly the subscription service will work for Apple users.
Jay Blahnik: Health & Fitness Connoisseur
Blahnik has been recognized as one of the premier instructors, trainers and educators in the fitness industry. He has taught sold-out classes and seminars in over 30 countries worldwide and is known for his results-oriented, simplified training approach.
Shape Magazine chose Blahnik in their Top 5 instructors in the world and Men's Health listed him as having one of the top workouts of all time.
He has been chosen as the International Fitness Instructor of the Year by IDEA and Can Fit Pro, the two largest associations of fitness professionals in the world.
In 2019, Blahnik was selected to receive the IDEA Jack LaLanne Award, created to recognize individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution in the areas of health and fitness. Blahnik is the only fitness professional ever to be recognized with all four of these fitness industry awards.
Blahnik was a Nike contract athlete and Nike consultant for over 20 years.
He worked closely with Nike on the launch of the Nike+ Run Club app, which has become the largest digital running community globally with over 30 million members and was named one of the best tech gadgets and services in 2006 by Time Magazine.
Blahnik was also the original creator and program developer of the Nike Training Club app, which boasts over 25 million digital users.
He was also a key expert and consultant for many of Nike’s Digital Sport initiatives launched in 2012, including the Nike+ FuelBand and Nike+ Kinect Training.
Blahnik joined Apple in 2013 and has taken on Apple's Senior Director of Fitness for Health Technologies' role.
Apple Fitness+ in The Words of Blahnik
An interview with Blahnik for Fast Company highlights the importance of the Apple Watch and how it has set the foundation for Apple Fitness+ to take off!
We feel like this is an iteration of the things we’ve been doing since the very beginning, which is to try to make it easier for people to be motivated and inspired to be more active and more fit, and so it fits right into that.
The design of Apple Fitness+ is made to cater to everyone from fitness buffs to beginners within its various workouts.
Each video includes three different trainers on screen simultaneously, and at least one of them—Blahnik calls them “modifiers”—is doing a simpler or less-taxing version of the activity. This is designed to help users at any fitness level.
Our mantra internally was we didn’t want people to take 20 minutes to find a 20-minute workout, and so we’ve done some really intelligent things to make it simple to get to your next best workout.
