If you reach for your phone to turn on Shazam every time you want to know what song it is playing, congratulations, you are one of 200 million monthly Shazam users worldwide!
Today, the Apple-purchased Shazam app has surpassed 200 million active monthly users worldwide. Shazam is popularly used to quickly identify music that users hear around them or from their devices.
Steering away from being accessible as a standalone app, Apple has made Shazam an easily accessible iPhone and iPad feature through Siri. The inclusion of Shazam into Apple devices may play a great deal in boosting monthly activity for the music app.
To celebrate this milestone, Shazam has since revealed an "All-Time Most Shazamed Song List" featuring 100 of the most Shazamed songs.
In response, list topper Tones & I of the song "Dance Monkey" has said,
Shazam has been a huge platform for me in terms of reaching people. I didn't have a following when I released 'Dance monkey,' but it gave me the opportunity to reach more people and elevate my fan-base, which has all led to creating a career for myself. Shazam is definitely an app designed to help more unknown artists.
In a statement, Apple Music vice president Oliver Schusser said,
Apple Music and Shazam offer a seamless experience to music fans around the world, from Shazam's ubiquitous discovery platform to Apple Music's unparalleled content, global live radio stations and human curation.
Looking back at our long history together, we can only see how close our missions have been: bringing the best home for music lovers and creators everywhere."
Keep Shazaming listeners! Your next "All-Time Most Shazamed Song List" may come to light sooner than the first one did.
