Warner Bros. has a sweet treat for HBO Max subscribers in the new year.

The motion picture conglomerate is releasing all 2021 films in theatres and HBO Max at the same time!

Now might be the best time for you to consider an HBO Max subscription, so you don't miss out on some major releases.

Warner Bros. Releases 17 Titles for HBO

This year, Warner Bros. announced the cinematic release of Wonder Woman 1984 in theatres and simultaneously HBO Max for this Christmas.

Initially this was thought to be a single experiment in light of the COVID-19 pandemic but has turned into a major release project for Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. is launching its entire 2021 slate of movies, which includes 17 titles. The list of movies includes:

  • Matrix 4
  • Dune: Denis Villeneuve's remake starring Timothy Chalamet.
  • In the Heights: Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical adaption.
  • The Many Saints of Newark: Sopranos prequel
  • The Suicide Squad
  • The Little Things: from Denzel Washington
  • Judas and The Black Messiah: biographical and biblical drama.
  • Tom and Jerry
  • Godzilla vs. Kong
  • Mortal Kombat: video game adaption.
  • Those Who Wish Me Dead: Starring Angelina Jolie.
  • The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
  • Space Jam: A New Legacy
  • Reminiscence: Starring Hugh Jackman.
  • Malignant
  • King Richard: Will Smith's sports drama.

WarnerMedia Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

The movies will be available for HBO Max subscribers for 31 days. They will continue their run in local theatres before purchasing on Amazon, iTunes, and Google Play.

WarnerMedia Chair and CEO Ann Sarnoff have made a statement about this new strategy in saying:

We’re living in unprecedented times which call for creative solutions, including this new initiative for the Warner Bros. Pictures Group. No one wants films back on the big screen more than we do. We know new content is the lifeblood of theatrical exhibition, but we have to balance this with the reality that most theaters in the U.S. will likely operate at reduced capacity throughout 2021
Ann Sarnoff

This strategy relates to how the COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way theatres and the film industry are to operate during this unprecedented time. With streaming services gaining popularity, the Warner Bros. strategy may lay the foundation for a new relationship between films and streaming.

Warner Bros.'s parent company owns HBO Max, AT&T. The subscription service is priced at $14.99 per month and is available on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K.
